“I didn’t.”
Her head came up.
“I ran it myself,” I said. “For seven years. Off the books, on my own time, out of my own house. I chased the breach through four intermediaries and I got as far as a hosting company in Cyprus that folded in 2021, and then I lost it, and I kept going anyway.”
“General.” Nandakumar set the photograph down very carefully. “A foreign actor breached a military medical center’s internal video system and sent a threat to a serving colonel’s classified device, and you didn’t report it, for seven years.”
“That’s correct.”
“Why?”
