Everything after that — the recordings, the agents, the convictions — was, in a sense, just the slow public confirmation of the private thing I gave her first, in that room, with nothing but my certainty: that she was not alone, that her truth was real, and that someone believed her completely, before it could be proven, simply because it was true and she was worth believing.
