Chapter 18 — The Correction

Torsten’s face lost its color.

“What is this?”

“The end,” Ingrid said.

Her voice shook, but she said it, and she stood tall beside me while she did, and I think that was the bravest single thing I have ever watched a person do.

I need to dwell on that, because in a story full of court orders and marshals and evidence, it is easy to miss where the real victory happened, and it did not happen on the screen or in the binder.
