Chapter 11 — Look Up
At a quarter to midnight the door opened, and Flynn came in without a word.
He didn’t speak to me now — there was no audience to perform for, and the tenderness had been a performance all along.
He simply took me by the arm and pulled me up off the bed, and I let myself hang from his grip like dead weight, let my feet drag and my head loll, slurring nonsense while my mind ran clear and fast underneath it.
He got an arm around my waist and half-carried me out of the suite, down the passage, out through a door into the storm.
