Hayden stepped out of the dark behind him. “Thirty-one fractures.”
Mason dropped his cigarette. “I never wanted any of this, Hayden. My father made us.”
“Sabrina asked you for help.”
Mason broke, his shaking hands against the brick wall. “I held her down while Spencer— my father needed those documents signed. Sabrina found out about the shipping containers in Duluth, the offshore accounts, the women who went missing.”
The words spilled out of him. “It was never just money. There’s an unregistered clinic under the ranch house, disgraced doctors on his payroll. Sabrina was alive when she reached the hospital, but the baby—”
Hayden took him by the collar. “Say it.”
