If somebody hands you a child and says you decide — if a relative drives a long way to give you a baby who is not right, and tells you that you have always been the one who knows when to act — that is not a compliment.

It is a transfer.

It may be an entirely unconscious one.

Somebody has just moved a decision from their hands into yours, and the reason they have done it is that they cannot make it, and the reason they cannot make it is usually that they already know the answer.
