Bright’s report ran to nine pages and I have read it about thirty times.
Its conclusions, in the language she used, were:
That the femoral fracture was acute and was not consistent with any accidental mechanism described by any caregiver.
That the reported behavioural change beginning at approximately two o’clock in the morning on the eleventh of October — an immediate cry during a diaper change, followed by reduced movement of the left leg — was consistent with the timing of the femoral injury.
That the child’s presentation at 10:59 a.m. was consistent with an injury sustained several hours earlier and not with one sustained in the preceding hour.
