You Failed the Test
Vanessa stepped forward, flushing with anger.
“Are you insane? You’re trespassing. Get out before we call the police.”
I glanced at the two security contractors flanking Mr. Meyers. “Please, Vanessa. Call them. It’ll save us the trouble.”
I walked to the center of the room. The guests shrank back, giving me a wide berth.
I stopped five feet from Daniel, close enough to see the sweat beading at his hairline.
He was staring at my dress, my shoes, the calm in my eyes. This wasn’t the broken woman he’d left on the porch.
