In recent years, Kim had stepped back from the limelight following a DUI incident in May 2022. The accident occurred in Seoul’s Gangnam district and caused damage to public property. She was later fined nearly ₩15 million (around $13,850 USD) after her blood alcohol level was found to be well above the legal limit.
Following the incident, Kim publicly addressed the matter, writing on Instagram: “I deeply apologize for the damage and delay in handling this matter. I made a serious mistake while under the influence and affected many individuals, including local businesses and pedestrians. I take full responsibility and regret my actions sincerely.”
She continued, “I am working closely with my agency to resolve the consequences and make proper amends. To the fellow actors, crew, and production teams affected, I offer my heartfelt apologies. There is no justification for what happened, and I will reflect deeply to ensure this never happens again.”
