Arielle Valdes, a 21-year-old from North Fort Myers, has been missing since Wednesday after she disappeared while jogging in her neighborhood. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said at this time there is no evidence to indicate foul play. “Our hearts go out to Arielle’s family and loved ones as they face this difficult time of grief,” the sheriff’s office said, adding that their Major Crimes Unit will continue to work closely with the 21st District Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation continues.
“Arielle brought so much light and joy to everyone she met with her warm spirit and kind heart,” her family shared on the Finding Arielle Valdes Facebook page. “For her family and friends, there are no words to express our grief. Arielle’s memory will live on as a precious gift to all who knew her.”
The family expressed deep gratitude to those who participated in the search. “Whether you walked for hours, drove around the country, launched your boats, flew drones, approached businesses for footage, or supported us in any way, your love and dedication was our strength,” they wrote.
Valdes’ sister Isabella Hergert also shared a touching tribute, saying: “Arielle was too pure for this world. I love you and I know I will see you again in every life. You are a part of my soul that I will always search for.”
According to NBC2, Valdes was training for a marathon and was used to running long distances, but he also struggled with depression.
