“Boyfriend and girlfriend sacrifice their prom dates to attend with students with special needs.”

Sydney and Logan Firkins are now a happily married couple

Today’s Sydney and Logan Firkins are a happy married couple. But a few years ago, they were just high school students who were a couple before.

The teenagers were predictably excited about their prom and couldn’t wait to hold hands and hit the dance floor.

But in 2017, as prom day approached, they decided to change course. They wouldn’t go to prom together.

Instead, they asked two students with disabilities to have a prom date that night.

At Princeton High School in Indiana, Sydney used to be a peer facilitator in the Life Skills course. Plus, she made Noah a friend during her visits.

Sydney was immediately drawn to Noah Heichelbech, a student with special needs, for his sweet nature and charming nature. They’ve kind of become best friends over the years.

Sydney told 14 News at the time: “Noah is so compassionate and fun-loving that he greets everyone in the hallway.” Like, he’s my best friend. He is superior.

Sydney believed she would have a great time at the prom due to her gregarious and gregarious personality. She also understood that it was a rare opportunity for a student with special needs to participate in this event.

Since it was their first time, Sydney said, “I wanted it to be about them, so they could enjoy this fun night.” “Some kids like them, but they don’t get in.”

Ono and her boyfriend decided to take two special dates to prom that year after discussing it. Sydney brings Noah and Logan brings Harley to the Life Skills session. Two proposals followed.

Sydney, a cheerleader and softball player, scribbled a message on the ball. She gave Noah the letter and helped him read the message. “Can I steal you to prom?” said the ball.

Noah was ecstatic when he heard the question. He immediately replied, “Yes, you can!” Logan proposed to his friend Harley more lovingly.

Her favorite flowers, pink roses, were delivered along with a charming letter from him that read: “I would be happy if you said yes to prom.”

Of course, she said yes and the four teenagers had a lovely prom together. A news source quoted Noah as saying that it’s quite touching when people go above and beyond to make him happy.

It just warms my heart that people care about me and want to involve me in things like this, he said.

Sydney acknowledged that she received many approaches when her story was published, but insisted that those interactions had nothing to do with her and were more about inclusivity and understanding.

“Many individuals have reached out to me and said it’s uplifting and that there should be more people like that. But it’s not about me. It’s all about them and the opportunity they have to achieve this.”
