Parenthood can be achieved in a variety of ways. To love a child as your own, you may not necessarily have a biological relationship with them. This point is beautifully illustrated in the heartwarming story of Moises Costa and his adopted son Davyd.
Parenthood can happen in unexpected ways, as in our work, and life can often take us by surprise. About 25 years ago, when Costa answered the door, his girlfriend was waiting there, holding the baby.
His mother ran away and never came back.
Moises Costa’s fiancée’s pregnancy was not discovered until she was five months along. However, he felt that he was not the child’s father. “We were together, but she lived in the country,” he confirmed.
One day she told him she was pregnant and then she disappeared. She came back and said she needed to drop the baby off so she could go shopping when the baby was about two months old. She left that day and never came back.
Costa decided to raise the child as his own.
After the child’s mother disappeared, Costa decided to have a DNA test done, which confirmed his fears that he was not Davyd’s biological father.

Davyd fell ill shortly after arrival and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. At the time, Costa and his family did not know about Davyd’s health condition. Later, doctors discovered brain damage.
The boy was identified as suffering from cerebral palsy, seizures, and limb atrophy that would never go away. In addition to these disabilities, he is also unable to speak and needs constant care as he cannot be left alone.
Regardless of the financial problems, Davyd is in capable hands.
Costa and his mother, who is 72, find it difficult to care for Davyd because of his disability, which requires constant supervision and expensive medical care. Costa worries about who will take care of Davyd when he is older. While she is now searching for her original father and Davyd’s other relatives, she still loves the boy deeply and does not want to give him up to anyone else.
“The love of my life is Davyd. I won’t give him to anyone,” Costa declared.
