Braden West’s life has been a remarkable journey of resilience, courage, and defying the odds.
Braden’s mother pleaded with the Lord to ease his suffering by bringing him home after birth. However, it’s hard to resist crying when you see this sweet pup 22 years later.
His parents were informed that Braden West would not have a long life after birth. He had Pfeiffer syndrome type 2, a genetic disorder characterized by an early fusion of several skull bones that stops the normal growth of the skull and changes the appearance of the head and face. This was the reason.
Two weeks before their son was born, a scan revealed anomalies, and the heartbroken parents were informed of his condition. As expected, they became incredibly anxious and felt like their world had shattered into a million pieces.
In 2020, mom Cheri said: “I mean, he’s kicking my womb and I’m begging God to take him home,” adding: “It looked like he wasn’t going to have the back of his head. It looked like he was going into the world with teeth. It looked like it was a terrible situation.
When Braden was born, his mother bonded with him immediately, and it broke her heart even more when she realized there was nothing she could do to help him. It was predicted that he would not survive the past 18 months.
I asked God to give me access to him for a short time, Cheri recalled.
“There’s a photo of him when he was born, and it shows his skull very well, the distinctive clover shape,” Cheri told The Owensboro Times. They realized he wasn’t doing well and wasn’t going to survive. To prevent him from dying in the hospital, we took him home to meet everyone.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Braden began defying all odds. Unexpectedly, he began to show signs of improvement.
Fortunately, he survived, and Linn claimed that Braden was her first patient ever allowed to leave hospice care.
Not only did he complete his education, but he also managed to secure an ideal position as a firefighter.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Braden began defying all odds. Unexpectedly, he began to show signs of improvement.
He underwent more than 30 procedures, had a tracheostomy at three years old, and had surgery once with a 10% chance of survival, Cheri added. “We had to say our goodbyes, sign the DNR papers and everything. The doctors said he was fine rather than have bad news.”
“What they told us is everything a mother doesn’t want to hear. It’s amazing what you can endure with faith in God. Cheri said, “Everyone who knew us or heard of us was praying for us.
A sister named Michele Eddings Linn provided Braden with unwavering support in addition to love and care from his parents and other family members.
Linn had once been by his side when he was on the brink of death. Linn recounted, “I just remember, you know, saying, ‘Lord, please, either take him home or I’m going to make him better. ‘Cause no one could watch him go through that again.’
Fortunately, he survived, and Linn claimed that Braden was her first patient ever allowed to leave hospice care.
Braden did incredibly well and even completed his high school education. He asked Linn to capture his images on his graduation day, and everyone who saw them was moved by the experience.
Whereas I once cried 17 years ago at the thought of his time on earth coming to an end, now I cry at the thought of him graduating from high school and his life just beginning. Linn commented on the article on Facebook.
Mom Cheri told The Epoch Times, “Watching him grow into this amazing young man has been emotional, but I’m also so proud.”
“All the feelings from the first few months of his existence came flooding back as I watched him walk through the line. He shouldn’t have done this; he shouldn’t have been able to use a pencil or speak or see or hear and yet here we are.”
As the helicopter took him right into the middle of a live performance by one of his favorite musicians, Cam Thomspon, Braden characterized his graduation as ideal.
It hasn’t always been easy, but it feels pretty good to know that I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am today,” commented Braden.
Not only did he complete his education, but he also managed to secure an ideal position as a firefighter.
Braden, now 22, became a volunteer firefighter with the Moseleyville Fire Department.
Never give up; keep going up the mountain no matter how challenging it is because the view from the top is breathtaking. This amazing young man defied all expectations claims.
He is the epitome of what can be achieved if we put our minds to it.
Braden’s journey serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for individuals facing their own challenges. His story is a reminder that despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles, with faith, love, and unwavering determination, anything is possible. As we celebrate Braden’s accomplishments, let’s remember the incredible strength and resilience that resides within each of us. His remarkable journey is a testament to the power of hope and the indomitable spirit of the human heart.
