People often go to a large extent to capture the perfect selfie, but in some cases they can pursue the ideal photo at devastating costs. This was the tragic fate of two influential persons who refused to wear life jackets, and eventually drowned when their ship sank.
Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27 years, participated in yachts when last month struck a disaster. Unfortunately, both women lost their lives.
The influence was part of a larger group, took selfies and enjoyed the time at sea. They often shared similar moments on social media, but as the party intensified, the ship was overcrowded.
According to the police commissioner São Vicente Marcos Alexandre Alfin, some passengers refused to wear life jackets because they believed it interferes with their selfies and sunbathing. “Some did not want to deploy them because they take selfies,” Alfino explained. “They said life jackets would get in the way of their tanning.”
The captain of the ship, whose identity was not published, cooperates with police investigation. Reportedly he tried to save both women when the vessel sank.
Only five people, including the captain, survived from each on board. The authorities claim that the ship was designed only to take five passengers, but there were six influencers on board.
The survivors were identified as Vanessa Audrey da Silva, Camil Alves de Carvalho, Daniel Gonçalves Ferreira, Gabriela Santos Lima and Natan Cardoso Soares da Silva.
The tragedy hit when the overloaded container was hit by a strong wave, which caused it to sink. Beatriz’s body was first restored and a week later it was driving further into the sea, while Aline’s stays ashore on the Iitquitanduva beach.

Aline, who was a mother, shared her final post on the social media from the ship just before the tragedy. She didn’t know how to swim.
