This time I will leave the country.”
During the last years of Trump’s presidency, he has rolled back numerous protections for LGBTQ individuals, most notably non-discrimination policies. Cher, who has long been an advocate for the LGBTQ community, has not held back her criticism of the growing number of proposed anti-transgender laws.
“There are about 500 bills trying to pass,” she said. “I was recently with two trans women — and of course, my own child, Chaz, is trans. I told them, ‘We have to stand together.’ I don’t know what their endgame is for trans people. I wouldn’t put anything past them.”
This is far from the first time that Cher has spoken out against Trump. In 2020, after he took office, she stated: “I hate even calling him president because all he does is watch TV. Cher also predicted that Trump would react angrily if he failed to secure re-election, saying: “If Trump can’t be in the White House, he’s going to burn it down. He is the most vengeful person I have ever seen. I think he’s fighting so hard because he knows he’s going to face prosecution once he leaves office.”
