Child Disappears Following Visit to Father, and Four Years Later, His Mother Receives a Haunting Text Message

In a harrowing tale of resilience and hope, the story of Gregory Jean Jr. is a testimony to the power of the human spirit. Marked by four years of kidnapping and abuse, this young boy’s journey eventually leads to a heartwarming reunion with his family, showing that even in the darkest times there can be a glimmer of light.

It all started in an Atlanta neighborhood when police made a shocking discovery. Hidden behind a false wall in the garage, they found a secret chamber that housed a young boy, Gregory Jean Jr., who had been missing for approximately four years. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent discovery are nothing short of amazing.

Gregory’s ordeal began when he was just 13 years old. It was located in a hidden space between the garage and the attic of a house in Jonesboro, Georgia. This hidden space was lined with insulation and wooden beams, making it a grim prison for the young boy.

According to Clayton County Police Sgt. Joanne Southerland: “No one should be in the area or detained… We should not have seen anyone there where we discovered the victim.

Gregory and his younger brother saw their father, who lived apart from their mother, four years before the police discovered him.

I adore my dad, Gregory Jr. I called him every day after school after he and his mother broke up. He invited me and Sammy to Atlanta. Sammy was allowed to return home, but their stepmother, Samantha Joy Davis, forbade me to do the same.

After the divorce, Lisa Smith, Gregory’s mother, and Gregory Senior, Gregory’s father, reached an informal child custody agreement in which Gregory Senior agreed to pay child support to Smith. The boy’s father convinced the boy that his mother did not want to see him or wanted him back to prevent the boy from contacting her.

It turns out Smith never reported her son missing to the police because she is an immigrant and unfamiliar with the system.

Every day the child was forced to stay inside and finish his stepmother’s chores.

I felt like a maid, Gregory remarked. My stepmother would hit me with a stick if there was even one leaf out of place when I cleaned the house and garden.

He tried to let the guidance counselors at his school know about the abuse he experienced: “I informed my counselor at school what was going on at home and at first they believed me. They visited me at home, but because my stepmother hid everything, they didn’t believe me.

She kept the cot I was forced to sleep on, the bucket I had to use for potty breaks, and the stick she used to beat me with. She took me out of school and then punished me for a while.

He wasn’t even allowed to use the toilet, so he had no choice but to sleep outside while his half-brothers and half-sisters slept inside in beds.

“I was forced to spend the night on a cot outside the garage door. I was cold because she had just offered me a thin blanket to cover me. The other youngsters slept in the beds.”

“She would make me use a bucket as a toilet. Everyone would look at me. It was humiliating.

“One time she humiliated me by stripping me and giving me a diaper. And when my stepbrother’s friends came over, they all made fun of me.”

“She wouldn’t let me celebrate Christmas for the last two years because I got in trouble when I talked about how he was treated at school,” he says. I prayed and sobbed and tried to wait. I promised to come home no matter how long it took.

A 13-year-old boy has been reunited with his mother and older siblings using the Magic Jack app after four years of unsuccessfully trying. He used the app, which allows users to send text messages to each other, to send messages to his family in Florida.

The young man’s mother immediately called the police and explained what had happened and where her son was being held.

Gregory Junior was forced by his stepmother to hide behind a makeshift wall in the attic of the garage so the police could not discover him.

The child stated:

“When the police first left, my stepmom was furious. Get him, she ordered my stepbrother. When he punched me in the face, he pushed me down the stairs.”

Gregory instructed his mother exactly where to look and where to hide the next time he spoke to her. The next time the police found him right where he was hiding because they knew exactly where to look!

When they found me, I shouted at the police: “Thank you, thank you,” the young man recounted. He was so relieved to be rescued, and it happened almost exactly on Christmas.

“I don’t care what anyone else gets for Christmas; this is my Christmas present to be back with my family,” he declared.

Samantha Joy Davis, the boy’s stepmother, and Gregory Jean Sr., the boy’s father, were both taken into police custody and charged with felony counts of false imprisonment and child abuse.

The boy went on with his life without holding any grudge against any of them.

“I don’t want my dad or my stepmom to do time in jail. If her [Davis’] family thinks I locked them up, then they’re wrong. I want to be free to live my life the way I like and let others do the same.

This remarkable story of survival, resilience, and forgiveness serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit. Gregory Jean Jr.’s Road from captivity to freedom is a testament to the enduring power of hope, love, and determination to overcome adversity.
