Christina underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. Ten years after treatment, she admitted in an interview with USA Today that she still struggled with concerns about her body image.

The Sweetest Thing actress shared her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) in August 2022. MS is an autoimmune chronic disease of the central nervous system that disrupts communication within and between the brain and body.

Although there is currently no cure, symptoms can be controlled with proper care. The average life expectancy is slightly shorter in patients with MS.

Christina referred to her diagnosis as a “strange journey” and a “hard journey” when she first spoke about it. She went on to say that she had support from her friends who also got sick.

The actress and her daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble walked the red carpet together at the SAG Awards on Sunday (February 26). Christina suggested that the event could be her last public appearance. The 51-year-old actress wore a floor-length velvet tuxedo dress with a wand emblazoned with the initials ‘FU MS’. Sadie Grace wore a long double-breasted black jacket over a black button-down shirt, matching pants, a baker’s hat, and traditional combat boots.

Christina has gained nearly 40 pounds as a result of the medication she has to take to keep her disease under control.
