Chuck Norris, the iconic actor and martial artist, recently celebrated his 24th wedding anniversary with his wife Gena. The couple’s love story is nothing short of extraordinary, as Chuck nursed Gena back to health after she was poisoned a decade ago. The devoted husband turned 93 on March 10, 2023, and shared a heartwarming post on Instagram to mark the occasion. In the post, Chuck shared a snapshot from their wedding day and expressed his love for Gena, describing her as his best friend and the love of his life.
The couple’s 24th anniversary almost didn’t happen because of Gena’s health struggles a few years ago. In a revealing interview with Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson in June 2017, Gena recounted how three MRIs triggered a series of mysterious illnesses, leaving her on the brink of death. Chuck sprang into action, taking his wife to a Nevada hospital for intensive treatment before traveling with her to China for alternative medicine. For five long months, Gena remained on IVs every day, lying in a clinic bed while Chuck slept on a couch beside her.
During that challenging time, Chuck read 17 books to his ailing wife, refusing to leave her side. Gena humbly expressed her gratitude to her husband, acknowledging his unwavering devotion to her. Despite his legendary status, Chuck was willing to give up his career to care for Gena. In a previous interview with CBS News, Chuck shared how his entire life revolved around keeping Gena healthy, stating, “I’ve had to give up my film career.”
The couple took several drug companies to court, including San Francisco’s McKesson, in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over the poisoning. Gena suffered brain damage, muscle wasting, and other health complications, and Chuck was terrified at the prospect of losing her. Nevertheless, he stood by her side and nursed her back to health, and on November 28, 2020, the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary with an Instagram post. Chuck once again shared his love and appreciation for his “beautiful wife,” thanking her for sharing his life.
