One item we always include in our weekly grocery cart is lemon. You can make desserts, cakes, creams, lemonades, and much more with it.
In addition to its many health benefits, this citrus fruit is well known for its ability to remove stains and whiten clothes, polish mirrors, disinfect cutting boards, and remove limescale, among other things.
Lemons have always been a staple on our shopping list, not only for their culinary delights but also for their cleaning versatility and numerous health benefits. However, what is often overlooked is their fantastic application in beauty regimens. In addition to their tangy taste, lemons have become a popular ingredient in skin care, nail care, and even hair treatments when combined with other household items such as toothpaste or baking soda.
When it comes to personal care, lemons mixed with toothpaste or baking soda offer a treasure trove of beauty secrets. From homemade toothpaste that contains green clay, olive oil, and lemon for dental care, to a nail-lightening solution using toothpaste and lemon juice for discoloration, to a mixture of lemon juice and toothpaste for hair lightening, the applications are endless.
Here are three toothpaste and lemon beauty tips:
LEMON TOOTHPASTE #1
Components
30 g of green clay with extreme ventilation
Half a ton of organic olive oil and five grams of gray sea salt
One teaspoon of lemon juice
One tablespoon of rosemary
One glass container with a lid
Guideline
First, bring a large pot of water to a boil. When boiling, add the glass jar and lid (if glass) and let stand for 15 minutes to sterilize the device. Using tongs, remove the pot and place it upside down on a fresh cloth.
When the water in the small pot starts to boil, add a spoonful of thyme. After infusing for a few minutes, turn off the heat, cover, and filter.
Grind the gray sea salt to a very fine texture. It is not recommended to use a grinder, as it is not necessary to grind the whole. The easiest method is to use a roller to crush the salt inside the plastic folder.
Using a wooden spoon, combine the salt and green clay in a small container; do not use an oxidizable spoon.
Once you have a smooth and homogenous mixture, very slowly add the olive oil, lemon juice, and thyme infusion while stirring constantly. The dough must remain really thick.
Finish by adding drops of lemon essential oil, mix, and place in a sterilized jar.
Use this toothpaste like regular toothpaste, simply dip a dry toothbrush into the jar.
Due to the presence of salt, however, it is preferable to alternate with milder toothpaste, such as powdered toothpaste.
2-Scrubbing nails
Some cosmetics we use to damage our nails. As a result, this color turns yellowish, brittle, and weak. To use this tip, you will need:
toothpaste containing one tablespoon of baking soda
One teaspoon of lemon juice
Mix toothpaste and lemon juice, then paint your nails with the paste for five minutes. Don’t forget to moisturize them after washing. This treatment can be repeated twice a week.
The benefit of choosing a toothpaste that contains baking soda stems from its anti-fungal properties, which, combined with similar properties of citrus fruits, reduce the chance of bacteria or fungus growing and causing nail damage and yellowing.
3- TO MAKE YOUR HAIR UNIFORM
Products like baking soda and lemon are known to lighten hair. Lemon gives the hair a radiant look again, thanks to citric acid. Toothpaste containing baking soda works well to lighten hair. To prepare this recipe, combine the juice of two lemons with two tablespoons of toothpaste. Then treat your hair with the product.
Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water before shampooing as usual.
The combination of lemon and toothpaste offers versatile benefits beyond just culinary use. From household cleaning to beauty routines, the acidic properties of lemon combined with the cleaning and abrasive elements in toothpaste create a powerful combination for a variety of purposes.
A mixture of toothpaste and lemon can be used for homemade beauty recipes, such as a toothpaste-based clay mask for dental care. However, it is important to note that due to the presence of salt, moderation, and caution are necessary to avoid potential sensitivity or irritation. It may be advisable to alternate with a milder toothpaste.
In addition, for nail care, a mixture of toothpaste and lemon juice serves as a means against nail discoloration caused by some cosmetic products. Its anti-fungal properties, along with the acidic nature of lemon, help maintain nail health and prevent yellowing.
Additionally, for those looking for a natural way to lighten their hair, a mixture of lemon juice and toothpaste, especially those that contain baking soda, offers a gentle lightening effect. The citric acid in lemon and the properties of baking soda work together to give your hair a shiny look.
Basically, while these toothpaste and lemon concoctions provide DIY alternatives for beauty treatments, it is essential to approach them with caution, especially when it comes to skin and tooth sensitivity. Understanding individual responses and practicing moderation can ensure the effectiveness and safety of these home remedies.
