Controversial Dad Sparks Internet Debate with Leash Usage for His 5-Year-Old Quintuplets’ Walk

The use of child leads or harnesses have been a topic of debate among parents for many years…

The father of five-year-old quadruplets has sparked debate on social media for his controversial parenting techniques.

Jordan Driskell, 31, uses his online platforms to share elements of his busy life with his wife Brianna, 34, and their five young children: Zoey, Dakota, Hollyn, Asher, and Gavin, who they welcomed after struggling with infertility.

As a way to show how he runs errands with his young offspring, Driskell posted a video of himself using a leash on his children. They can be seen chained together as they staggered down the street.

The father-of-five captioned the post, “When people judge me for using child restraints…” to defend himself against people who stopped him from using that particular device.

However, the video led to many followers attacking Driskell in the comments section, saying that he treats his children like dogs.

One shocked user wrote: “These are human beings, not dogs! This is disgraceful!”, while another equally disappointed person simply said: “Animals?”

A third user shared his other disagreements with the man, writing: “I think the harnesses are a great idea, they only sell them for kids, but maybe the song choice, the mention of dogs, and the fact that the kids don’t look very happy. is the problem.”

Meanwhile, many people have come to Driskell’s defense, supporting his decision to put his children on a leash for their own safety.

One person said: “This is very acceptable for MOST small CURIOUS children at this age. It only takes a split second. Safety is important.”

Another user commented: “He is a responsible father and keeps his children safe. It only takes a second for any child to get hurt, we all know that, give dad a break. He should be congratulated.”

Someone else chimed in: “They’re your kids. Who’s flying what are these people thinking lol you protect your kids. You know your kids, not these internet clowns. My son was a runner he was on a leash. My girls didn’t hold my hand. There are different rules for different kids lol.”

A fourth person added: “You’re doing the right thing for a real man. It’s your job to love them, provide for them and keep them safe. Can you imagine them all running in different directions at the same time? Anyone having a problem with this obviously hasn’t had several young children, who are full of energy and like to run around as if they are watching the stars when they are in public places.”

There are no rules in the U.S. that prohibit keeping children on leashes, but one pediatrician has urged against the practice, telling Good Housekeeping, “I don’t like seeing kids on leashes as pets.”

He cited safety concerns, stating: “As a father of three, I am well aware of how quick, impulsive, and unpredictable children can be. But from an injury perspective, I would worry about entanglement or suffocation.”

The baby leash debate is a reminder that parenting is a deeply personal journey and what works for one family may not work for another. Each parent makes decisions based on the individual needs of their children and their own parenting philosophy. While some may feel comfortable using child restraints, others may choose alternative ways to keep their children safe in public.

Ultimately, the debate about child restraints reminds us of the diversity of parenting styles and the importance of supporting each other as parents. The most important thing is that children are loved, cared for, and safe as they explore the world around them. Whether it’s holding hands, using strollers, or baby leashes, parents are always trying to do the best for their children, and that’s what really matters.

Do you think this father is right or wrong to use a leash on his five children?
