Families are no strangers to drama, even over the smallest of things. However, significant events like weddings and the arrival of a new baby can sometimes ignite even bigger conflicts. Such was the case for a new dad who took to r/AITA to share his story.
In November 2019, the author’s wife gave birth to their son after a complicated pregnancy that required an emergency C-section. Wanting to honor his wife’s wishes, the author refused to let anyone hold their baby until his wife had the opportunity to do so first. Unfortunately, this decision did not sit well with his mother and sister, and tensions began to rise.
The new father has recently revealed that he prioritized his wife’s desire to hold their newborn son before anyone else by refraining from allowing others to hold the baby until she had fully recovered from the complicated surgery.
However, the author’s family members accused him of depriving them of the opportunity to spend time with the baby during the early stages. As a result, he turned to r/AITA to receive judgment on whether his decision was justifiable or not.
Below are some of the comments made by people regarding the situation:
You did the right thing. Your mother and sister have no right to make you feel guilty. They are selfish and think they are entitled. They should be grateful that you let them hold the baby at all. You are a great husband and are not selfish at all. Good job.
