Criticism Aimed at News Anchor Over ‘Inappropriate Attire’: Is There Cause for Concern?

At a time when body positivity and acceptance are on the rise, it’s confusing to see viewers take issue with a pregnant woman proudly embracing her changing body.

In an age where the internet has made everything accessible to people around the world and social media has made it easier than ever to judge others by the anonymity of their own computer, those whose careers involve watching a camera in any capacity quickly become accustomed to critical remarks about their appearance.

If you’re a journalist like Kristen Nicole, such scrutiny is unavoidable. However, she was still shocked when some criticized her pregnant belly. She already had one child and was due with another when viewers complained to her TV station about the “Good Day Chicago” host exposing her pregnant belly.

Despite being a successful working mother, Kristen Nicole has faced unwarranted criticism for her appearance at work. As she sat behind the news desk, viewers took issue with her choice of outfit – a skin-tight blue dress. However, Kristen was quick to respond to the negative comments via a Facebook post, claiming that she wears the dress once a month and has no intention of changing her wardrobe based on a few naysayers.

Kristen’s post had a straightforward message: if someone intended to take offense at her baby bump is visible, they shouldn’t expect a response from her. She pointed out that she has worn this dress on many occasions without any complaints. She also sarcastically highlighted the absurdity of finding a nearly eight-month-pregnant woman wearing the dress as “disgusting”, accompanying her comment with a playful eye roll.

Kristen Nicole, a news anchor, reached out to three people named Karen, Gene, and Sabrina who emailed her complaining about her visible baby bump while wearing a tight blue dress. Unhappy with their negative comments, Kristen encouraged them to use their time more positively by offering compliments and doing good deeds. On the other hand, she expressed her gratitude to those who sent messages of congratulations and well wishes as their support kept her motivated during the last six weeks of her pregnancy. Kristen happily shared that she had a healthy, comfortable, and stress-free pregnancy, expressing her excitement to meet her new addition and expressing her gratitude for their involvement in her journey.

Kristen Nicole, a news anchor, received three emails from people named Karen, Gene, and Sabrina, all expressing their displeasure with her decision to show off her baby bump in a skin-tight blue dress. Shockingly, one correspondent went so far as to accuse Kristen of carrying a fake baby bump for ratings. Another reviewer lamented that she didn’t opt for more conventional maternity wear.

After this negative news, Kristen admitted that she felt down. However, she also received an outpouring of support from fans who praised her look and applauded her handling of the situation. One Facebook user commented: “You are beautiful. Ignore those who try to make someone feel bad because they are so insecure.”

It’s truly remarkable that there are still viewers these days who have a problem with a woman proudly showing off her pregnancy without trying to hide her body. In fact, one would probably encounter more revealing looks simply by observing the world outside the window while driving down the street than Kristen Nicole displayed in her blue dress.

The negative comments and criticism directed at Kristen Nicole for proudly displaying her baby bump on-air highlight the unfortunate reality of the internet age. Despite the devastating news she received, Kristen’s graceful response and overwhelming support from her fans demonstrate the power of positivity and resilience. It is important to remember that every individual, regardless of their profession or appearance, deserves respect and acceptance. Kristen’s story serves as a reminder to focus on spreading kindness and celebrating the successes of others rather than succumbing to judgment and negativity.

  1. I am sorry, but from what I was able to see, I think it was a totally appropriate and typical dress. It looks completely normal and professional. I see no need cause for concern.

  2. Shirley Randall

While that dress is not something I would personally wear, I see nothing inappropriate about it. I guess some people would rather see you wearing a gunny sack or muu muu to hide the fact that you had s*x at some point. Some people ….lol

  3. Veronique Bonifer

Some people have to much time on their hands, being pregnant is not something to be ashamed of.

  4. OH my, Those three must be must have personal problems or belong to a church where you can not look attractive. A top that makes one just look over weight isn’t really hiding the fact that you going to have a baby, so why try to hide it. Your are, as well as other women, beautiful pregnant. In my teenage years, 60’s, a lot of places made you take a leave of absent from work if you got pregnant. My sister, married, worked in the basement of a bank and saw no customers and had to stop working for a while. A teacher could not teach like it was a bad thing. So glad we have stopped that stupidity. If you get pg again I hope you
wear that style again. Your are beautiful. I am 76 and not old fashioned. I wonder if those ladies are ok with showing our ankles.
