I could actually feel the heat through the window, and then we started tumbling. I can’t recall the exact number of times we flipped, but we eventually found ourselves upside down. 

In an interview with CNN, Nelson described the situation as surreal. ‘People were shouting, “Get out!”‘ Get out!’ we could smell jet fuel. Even now, I still smell of it, he said.

Luckily, all passengers and crew members were successfully evacuated prior to the aircraft experiencing a fire. Many have referred to it as a miraculous event that the plane didn’t catch fire due to the significant amount of fuel it carried.
