One experiences life very suddenly. You never know what the day will bring. A car approached a young couple standing on the side of the road.
A quick-thinking husband ended up saving his wife’s life by pushing her off the road. However, he was not so lucky.
On Aug. 1, Raymond Surber, 31, was driving his off-duty 2017 Chevrolet Silverado when he collided with a young couple standing on the side of the road. When Surber struck ACSO deputies Lucas and his wife, Nicole Shoffner, were on the side of the road trying to fix the motorcycle.

The collision occurred around 11:17 p.m. Both husband and wife were injured in the collision, although Lucas’ injuries were more serious.
According to Matt Fagiana, a representative of the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Lucas threw his wife to the side, causing her more serious injuries. According to Fabiana, Lucas’ courageous actions prevented his wife’s death.
“Let’s start praying for our friend. This man deserves a second chance at life more than anyone. According to Fabiana, he’s funny, kind, loyal, and strong as a damn ox.” Nicole and I are here with you every step of the way.”

Nicole underwent a head CT scan and X-rays after being transferred to Fort Sanders. At the same time, Lucas had significant brain injuries and was being treated in UT Medical Center’s transplant intensive care unit. Lucas was put into an artificially induced coma. Soon after, he began to wean himself off the paralytic under anesthesia.
Nicole, his wife, suffered less damage than her husband Lucas. She stood by him and encouraged him every step of the way in his recovery. To help the couple with medical expenses, their friends created a GoFundMe campaign.
More than $93,000 of their $100,000 goal was raised. Nicole expressed her gratitude to everyone who donated, helped, and even sent prayers for the young couple’s recovery.

Lucas eventually came out of a 23-day coma and doctors considered him to be making progress toward recovery. According to reports, Lucas will now travel to a treatment center in Atlanta to complete his recovery.
Based on Nicole’s Instagram posts, Lucas’ rehab seems to be progressing well. The ASCO constable just completed 200 steps at a rehab facility that his wife and many other people in his life have praised.
Lucas was seriously injured as a result of pushing his wife out of the way to save her life. True love is the one that transforms a person into a selfless being.
