Devoted Couple Shares Meals for 13 Years, but One Day, He Dines Solely with a Photo of Her

When we’re married, we usually swear, “Until death do us part,” but for this incredible guy, it goes much further because of his late wife, whom he still truly loved. He still ate at the place they frequented. To feel closer to her while eating, he takes her framed portrait and places it on the table next to him.

In a world where love stories often come and go, there are those that transcend time and leave an indelible mark on our hearts. The story of Clarence Purvis, now 93, and his late wife, Carolyn Todd, is one such story—a testament to the enduring power of love that transcends the boundaries of life and death.

They will be together for another 63 years. During that time, their love only grew stronger as they became more involved in each other’s lives.

According to Clarence, their relationship was the stuff of fairy tales; it was a rare example of pure love – a fairy tale that everyone was looking for, but only a select few actually found!

According to Clarence, no one loved each other more than me and my wife. She wanted what I wanted and I wanted what she wanted.

Clarence and his wife have been going to Smith’s Restaurant in Reidsville for lunch at the same time for the past thirteen years. Even after Carolyn died four years ago, he kept reminding her by bringing her photo to the restaurant and placing it on the table.

She was usually with me when we lived, he replied. He is with me at the moment.

Many concerned individuals tried to convince Clarence that he was just a little lonely and that he would be much better off if he tried to move forward. Because Clarence understands that true love exists for his wife and for him, the fact is that some people do not believe in this idea.

They said things would get better when I had a girlfriend, he said. Could you help me find a girlfriend, I could ask her. You know what she would say? if you so choose. So we worked.

Clarence claims that he goes to Carolyn’s funeral at Glennville Cemetery four times a day because he misses her so much and loves her so much.

I think I come in 125 times a month, he noted. I am so devoted to her. And I really miss him. and believe me she would choose me.

In a world where relationships can be fleeting and temporary, Clarence’s story is a testament to the enduring power of love. It encourages us to think about what true love means and how it can transcend the boundaries of life and death. Clarence’s love for Carolyn is a love that defies time and circumstance, a love that continues to inspire and touch the hearts of those who hear his story.

It is a reminder that love in its purest form is eternal. It is a bond that can never be broken, not even by death itself. Clarence’s act of bringing Carolyn’s photo to their favorite restaurant is not a sign of sadness, but a celebration of a love that endures. It is love that teaches us that in the magnificent tapestry of life, some threads are so strong that time will not unravel them.

As we reflect on Clarence and Carolyn’s extraordinary love story, let’s remember that love knows no boundaries. It is a strength that can carry us through the darkest times and linger in our hearts long after our loved ones are gone. Clarence’s story reminds us that true love, like fine wine, improves with time, and it is love that truly lasts forever.
