Concerns grew when he did not return later that day, prompting his wife to contact the authorities and report him missing. Since that fateful day, his family and search teams have searched tirelessly for any sign of his whereabouts.
On January 13, Julian Sands embarked on a perilous hike up Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California. Later that day, when he didn’t show up for work, his family became worried and his wife alerted the police that he was missing. They have been looking for him ever since.
Unfortunately, it was quite challenging to conduct a comprehensive search at the time – remember, this was mid-January – due to dangerous road conditions and the likely risk of an avalanche.
They tried to detect anything (or anyone) using helicopters, drones, and pings from Sands’ phone but failed.
Authorities were forced to halt the search due to safety concerns as the situation worsened.
The search for Sands was resumed on June 17 when officials determined it was safe. The Sheriff’s Office has been keeping everyone updated as these attempts have continued over the past week.
