The immersive hotel experience, a first-of-its-kind hospitality initiative for Disney, will take guests on a three-day, two-night cruise aboard the luxury “starcruiser” The Halcyon. The resort’s Orlando location debuted on March 1, 2022, with 100 guest accommodations, including 94 standard cabins with up to four beds and six luxury suites.
The Galactic Starcruiser differs from other Disney lodging options in that it invites interaction with a variety of unique characters from across the galaxy, rather than just serving as a place for visitors to crash after a day at the theme parks.
Visitors had the opportunity to help either agent of the Rebellion or officers of the First Order aboard the ship, sample cuisine from across the galaxy, and catch glimpses of familiar characters from the popular series. They are also encouraged to dress up in Star Wars-related garb, although cosplay is not required.
Additionally, only those who sign up for the full trip can enter the theme parks (although there is an “excursion” to Batu, otherwise known as Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge zone), and are not allowed to choose their own food aboard the Starcruiser. Since the Halcyon travels through space, the resort’s amenities do not include a pool or various outdoor areas where guests can enjoy the Florida weather.
Lightsaber training, bridge operations lessons including handling, shielding, and yes, shooting from the imposing vessel, as well as two distinct dining experiences where guests can sample specialties such as Blue Ice Felucian Prawn Cocktail and Braised Bantha Beef. will delight Star Wars lovers and casual fans alike.
Imagineers revealed they had been working on the project for at least six years at a media panel discussion before the hotel’s debut last year.
keep your lightsabers ready and stay tuned for the next chapter in Disney’s ongoing quest to revive the magic of Star Wars.
