In an episode of the British TV series, they brought people to tears when they saw one of the greatest examples of a father’s love.
The story, which was part of a special episode of the Stаnd Up To Cancеr charity, showed the devastating effects of cancer not only on others but on others too. It featured Brеtt, a father of three with a brain tumor who was in his last moments when he met his third child for the first time. Over the course of this episode, we see him struggle with the disease before she passed away earlier in 2019.
The couple, Brеtt аnd Nicоlа, were both newly qualified teachers who were friends before they realized they had more for each other. They went from friends to best friends to a married couple and then parents to beautiful daughters.
Nicola expressed that Brett truly valued his role as a father and was an exceptional father. One of their daughters shared memories of their time together, such as visiting the farm, feeding the animals, and enjoying the bouncy pillow, which brought her immense happiness. However, their lives were turned upside down when Brett’s health began to deteriorate.
Although Nicola noticed the changes in Brett, he initially dismissed them. They finally sought medical help and in 2015 received the devastating news of his brain tumor.
As a mother of three, Nicola recalled a meeting with a neurologist where they discussed the possible outcomes of surgery. They were confronted with the grim reality that the procedure could lead to either Brett’s death or the removal of the tumor. Panicking, they decided to operate and the medical team removed as much of the tumor as possible. However, when the tumor grew back, during Nicole’s pregnancy with Arya, it became more aggressive and was deemed inoperable.
Three months after discovering the tumor was inoperable, Nicola went into labor with their child. In the middle of labor, Brett experienced a seizure, prompting an urgent rush to Milton Keynes Hospital’s trauma and emergency department.
After the birth, Nicola’s only desire was to reach Brett before she lost him so that he could hold his beloved daughter one last time. Nicola described it as a race against time to make sure they were both okay and could get to the hospital where Brett was. The hospital staff went above and beyond to help Nicole get to him in time.
Nicola’s mother, who was with her at the hospital, took the newborn and Nicola to Brett. Nicola wanted Brett to know that everything was going to be okay. She calmed him down and told him not to hurt himself again.
Nicola placed their newborn daughter Arya on top of Brett and described her appearance to him. It was the first and last time he met his newborn. They spent several hours together and allowed Brett to feel close to her before he died. Arya was born at 5:07 a.m. on February 11, 2019, while Brett died at 8:25 a.m.
Brett’s older daughters believe their dad, who used to be their “superhero handsome prince,” sends them feathers to let them know he’s watching over them. And maybe he’s really looking out for his three princesses.
