Dolly Parton’s heartfelt tribute to her dear friend, Mrs. Olivia Newton-John, touched the hearts of millions around the world.
After the death of her close friend Dame Olivia Newton-John aged 73, Dolly Parton paid tribute to her.
The 76-year-old artist and the Grease star have been close friends for many years and share a love and skill for music. In 1976 Dame Olivia even recorded a rendition of Dolly Parton’s timeless song Jolene and included it on her seventh studio album, Come On Over.
Dame Olivia died “peacefully” on Monday morning at her estate in Southern California, her widower announced this week. She was accompanied by relatives.
Parton joined her friends, family, and co-workers to pay their respects to the diva, joining millions of others around the world who have been devastated by Dame Olivia’s passing.
The actress had battled breast cancer for the previous 30 years; her husband called her “a symbol of triumphs and hope”, although the exact cause of death is still unknown.
Dolly took to Instagram on Tuesday night to express her grief, going on to call Dame Olivia a “special friend”.
“So sorry to lose my special friend, Olivia Newton-John,” the American country legend wrote.
I am very glad that our lives are connected.
She said Ms. Olivia’s voice “sings beautifully with the angels.”
One of the Partons’ many supporters who sent their condolences in the comments section of the post wrote: “So sorry for the loss of your beautiful friend Dolly, we will all miss her. Long live Sandra D,” they said.
Another person said that like Dolly, Olivia transcended her extraordinary powers and became a wonderful person. I adored her so much.

One admirer claimed he had been waiting “all day” for Parton’s tribute to Ms. Olivia, and another expressed his love for her and his condolences at her passing.
Everyone from Rebel Wilson to her Grease co-stars has paid tribute to the renowned actress, and Parton is far from the only one to mention how much she will be missed.
Shortly after hearing the news of her death, her close friend and Grease actor John Travolta wrote a tearful tribute to Ms. Olivia, saying she “made everyone’s life so much better”.
The actor, who played Danny Zuko, posted an old photo of her and wrote: “My beautiful Olivia, you have made all of our lives so much better.
“Your influence has been tremendous. I adore you so much. When we meet on the road, we will all be together again.”
“Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!” he said in conclusion. Your John, your Danny!”
Travolta and Dame Olivia became friends after working together on an ongoing musical/romance in the 1970s.
The performers, who had been close friends for more than 40 years, reunited in the 1983 film Two of a Kind.
