If I’m given a choice of where to sit at a restaurant, I will almost always go for the booth. Not only are the chairs more comfortable, but the nestled-in dining experience is also more intimate. As someone who enjoys privacy, the booth is the perfect solution. However, if you’ve ever been in a restaurant and the hostess walked you and your party past a perfectly good booth to a set of hard-chairs, you’re probably left wondering why.
Restaurants have their own reasons for not giving customers booth seats even if they’re available. Perhaps, it is just the luck of the draw, and you are being seated in another server’s section. Or maybe the booth is reserved for other customers who called in.
A certain family visited a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Dallas, hoping for a specific seating arrangement, only to be met with disappointment. This led them to express their discontent with the restaurant by sharing a photograph on social media. Their frustration stemmed from the hostess seemingly ignoring a vacant booth. Driven by their desire for the more comfortable seating option, a family member volunteered to investigate and discovered a sign on the table designating it for special VIPs.
As soon as the family saw the sign on the table, they felt honored to be sitting so close to these VIPs. And because the people were not going to walk into the Texas Roadhouse restaurant any second, they were sitting at the edge of their seat. That’s because the booth was reserved for five slain police officers. The restaurant wanted to honor and recognize the brave police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. It was their way to memorialize them. Even though it was just a small way to do so, other customers noticed and were proud to share the news on social media and promote the Texas Roadhouse location.
The message displayed on the table was a heartfelt one: “In memory and tribute to five brave police officers – Sergeant Michael J. Smith, Officer Michael Krol, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, and Mr. Brent Thompson – who served with dedication in the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Department. Texas Roadhouse honors their memory and extends its gratitude for their service. May they find eternal peace.”
Customers were deeply moved by the fact that this busy restaurant had reserved a table to pay homage to these valiant police officers. These officers had made the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding the Dallas community, and the Texas Roadhouse location wanted every patron walking through its doors that evening to understand their unwavering support for the police force.
The customers couldn’t contain their joy and eagerly captured photographs of the sign and the table, complete with the presence of the American flag. The restaurant’s management couldn’t have been more pleased with this touching gesture. What are your thoughts on the way this restaurant chain paid tribute to its local police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty?
