At around 10:55 a.m. Friday, Heche was successfully freed from her Mini Cooper and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
However, her family revealed through a spokeswoman that she had suffered “significant anoxic brain injury” as a result of the crash and was currently being kept alive while specialists determined whether her organs were suitable for donation.
According to the statement: “We want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers for Anne’s recovery, as well as the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses who cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital.”
“Unfortunately, Anne Heche’s accident resulted in a severe anoxic brain injury and she is still in critical condition and in a coma. She is unlikely to live.”
“Anne had a big heart and her giving spirit touched everyone she met,” it said.
She believed her mission in life was to spread joy and compassion, especially by encouraging you to embrace what you love. That was more important to her than her extraordinary gift. Her brightness will be greatly missed and remembered for her courageous honesty.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Heche event caused a “heavy fire” that required 59 firefighters to extinguish and left behind large, widespread damage.
Attorney Michael McConnell, who is representing the 53-year-old woman, argued on Monday that she had been unconscious since the accident.
McConnell told the media: “He has significant burns that require surgery and significant lung damage that requires artificial respiration.”
She and her loved ones wished it were no different. Yet I feel like darkness. Sad.
When Heche crashed, police said they were investigating whether she had been drinking.
Officer Annie Hernandez said, “Further testing is needed to rule out any drugs that were administered at the hospital.”

Richard Glass, the owner of a nearby salon where Heche bought a wig on the Friday just before the crash, told the Los Angeles Times that the actress was in good spirits and did not appear to be intoxicated. However, a number of other sources have speculated whether Heche took anything before getting behind the wheel of her car.
A neighbor of the home Heche crashed into claimed he was at work on Friday when a speeding car drove past his window.
David Manpearl recalled coming outside after learning of the crash to find Heche’s Mini Cooper wedged in his neighbor’s back wall and the homeowner huddled in the middle of her kitchen pleading for help.

According to Manpearl, she was unable to move due to the collapsed ceiling, which left a large amount of debris all over the place.
“At that point, the fire started spreading everywhere. It was everywhere,” he continued.
Heche is best known for portraying identical twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love in the soap opera Another World. Her acting credits also include “Donnie Brasco” and “Six Days Seven Nights.”
