Cheerful, upbeat, and confident, the 13-year-old decided to try out a new look this January, which of course included a new haircut!
She decided she wanted highlights and her mom Christine Johnson obliged! For a beautiful birthday present, her mother accompanied her to the hair salon.
It would be fantastic to show off your gorgeous new look, but something terrible has happened. But before that, Christie grabbed a photo of her gorgeous daughter, smiling, happy with her new hairdo…
Unfortunately, her happiness was short-lived and not too sweet, just days after Kelsey stayed with her father and stepmother, she would be completely traumatized by what happened there!
The pictures her mother took of them after the visit were scary, painful, and even alarming for her and her mother!
Even though Kelsey is too humiliated to reveal her face, you don’t need to see her face to feel sympathy for the poor girl and the suffering she had to go through.
Her once long and gorgeous hair had been completely cut off, leaving it so short that even a grown woman would cry, let alone a young girl!
The girl’s father and stepmother reportedly cut Kelsey’s hair after noticing the new highlight, citing “Actions Have Consequences.” in a Facebook post by the girl’s aunt. …Really?
They decided to do the horrible thing to her hair and make her cut this boy’s hair as some kind of forced humiliation because they were so furious with the girl’s new highlights for some reason they couldn’t explain.
Because, as they stated, “actions have consequences,” the father and stepmother may now have to deal with their consequences. Both were suspended without pay for their behavior because they were both firefighters.
Christie said in a Facebook post that Kelsey looked bad because of Christie’s drastic haircut.
Many individuals commented on the post who were also devastated on Kelsey’s behalf.
Wood County Social Services stepped in to launch an investigation into exactly what happened after the post went viral.
We sincerely hope that Kelsey gets the justice she deserves and that her father and stepmother are held accountable for the horrific alleged abuse of a young child and the humiliation it caused.
I have no idea how Kelsey really feels because until her hair grows back, which may take some time, every time she looks in the mirror she will be reminded of that horrible event.
