He dragged her from her car, slammed the door, and drove off, leaving her bleeding and terrified. Kayla remembers the shock vividly: “I was sitting in a pool of my own blood. My mouth was on fire. I felt scared, confused, and hopeless.”
Doctors tried to repair her lip, but the damage was severe. Tissue from her cheeks was used to close the wound. Waking up after surgery, she realized her life had irrevocably changed.
