Mrs. Torres stood frozen at her table, and in her trembling hands she captivated the crumpled letter.
Her eyes searched words again, but no matter how many times she read them, the weight in the chest only grew heavier. Outside, the Christmas lights lit up in the cold December air, but there was a disturbing silence inside the classroom. She had to find Bobby. She had to do something than it was too late.
That morning, the classroom was filled with laughter and excitement when the children entered, each of which held a beautifully wrapped gift. It was a very expected day of their secret Santa exchange and every child eager to see what surprise awaiting them.
Between cheerful chatting and gifting, one boy sat quietly in the corner and grabbed a simple envelope. Bobby’s fingers trembled as he held him, his eyes struggling with non -matt tears. He felt in place as if he didn’t.
The little girl ridicules a classmate for not bringing a gift, then after reading the Christmas letter breaks up
During the Christmas party, the young girl teased her classmate for not bringing a gift, he didn’t know about the heartbreaking reason behind him. But everything changed when their teacher found and read the letter he left.
When the children arrived, she buzzed in the classroom with excitement, each holding beautifully packed gifts for her secret Santa exchange. The air was filled with expectations, but Bobby sat quietly in the corner and clutched the envelope. His eyes glittered with non -forming tears and weighed severe sadness for him.
“We’re ready, kids?” Mrs. Torres, their teacher.
“Yes, Mrs. Torres!” The children responded eagerly.
She smiled warmly. “Okay, let’s start! Who wants to go first?”
“Me! I!” The children were shouting enthusiastically. But Mrs. Torres noticed that Bobby was sitting quietly.
“Let’s start with Bobby,” she decided gently. “Are you ready?”
All eyes turned toward Bobby, but kept his gaze reduced.
“Bobby, is everything fine?” Mrs. Torres asked as she approached him. “You took part in the secret Santa Exchange, right?”
Bobby nodded slowly. “I have the name of Sally … but I don’t have a gift. I just have a letter.”
“It’s okay,” Mrs. Torres assured him kindly. “Sally understand. Instead, you can give her a letter.”
With hesitant steps, Bobby approached Sally’s table. “I’m sorry, Sally. I couldn’t give you a gift but I made this letter for you.”
Sally frowned and mocked. “What? You didn’t bring a gift? It’s a secret Santa, Bobby!”
“I’m really sorry,” Bobby whispered. “I’m just … I couldn’t afford it.”
Sally, Sally, her arms crossed: “I hate you! My dad bought a nice gift for your secret Santa and you didn’t bother me anything? Are you so poor!”
Bobby’s face was reddish. “I worked hard on the letter,” he murmured. “I even drew reindeer because I know you love them.”
“Ew!” Sally shouted. “That’s ugly! I don’t want it. Everyone, look! Bobby couldn’t even afford a Christmas present!”
Laughter broke around the room until Mrs. Torres entered. “Sally, that’s enough!” She cursed. “You don’t have to accept the letter, but you shouldn’t be evil. Excuse Bobby.”
“I won’t,” Sally snapped. “It’s not my fault he’s poor. Maybe he should go to the streets instead!”
When Bobby returned to his seat, he filled the room with a strong silence and tears ran down his face. Mrs. Torres said Sally that her parents had to meet her the next day, and then encouraged other children to continue the exchange.
After school Mrs. Torres noticed that Bobby’s letter remained on the table. The curiosity was pulling her and she decided to read it. When she ended, tears in her eyes. She moved with her content and decided to find Bobby, but he was gone. Instead, she approached Sally.
“Sally,” Mrs. Torres called. “I need to read something.”
Sally overturned her eyes. “As for Bobby, I don’t care.”
“Please,” Mrs. Torres lasted gently.
Religiously Sally took a letter and started reading. When she absorbed words, her expression softened and tears were formed in her eyes.
The letter read:
“Dear Santa,
I’m sorry, Sally. I have to be the worst secret of Santa ever. You’re such a nice person and I feel terrible that I couldn’t get a gift. My mom is really ill – her heart is weak and she can’t walk without using an old wheelchair of my grandfather.
I saved me to buy something special, but instead I had to use money for her medicine. When it improves, I promise to ask her to buy a Saturday toy because I know you love them. For the time being, I have reached one on the back of this letter.
I hope you and your mom are always happy. I never want to see you sad and I really wish that all your heart desires. This is my Christmas wish for you.
– Bobby “
Sally’s lips trembled as she looked at Mrs. Torres. “His mom is sick?” She asked in a quiet voice.
Mrs. Torres nodded. “Yes, she is.”
Slals ran down Sally’s face. “I want to help Bobby,” she whispered. “I was so bad … I didn’t know.”
Mrs. Torres put a calming hand on her shoulder. “You have a kind heart, Sally. Now that you understand it, maybe you can apologize tomorrow. Bobby would appreciate it.”
“I’ll,” Sally promised, wiped tears. “I want to be a good friend.”
The next day, as soon as Bobby arrived at school, Sally rushed to the table. “Bobby,” she said quietly, “I’m really sorry. I read your letter after you left, and I didn’t know about your mother. I also miss my mom … I didn’t understand.”
Bobby’s face was illuminated with a small smile. “That’s okay! Do you like the reindeer?”
Sally giggled. “It was ugly but I loved it! Thank you!”
From that day, Bobby and Sally became close friends – but their story did not end there.
Later that evening, Sally and her father Michael Bobby were visited and carried a bag of gifts and envelopes.
“Sally and I want to help,” Michael Bobby told his parents, Linda and Derek. “She told me about your wife’s state and we would like to support your family.”
Linda and Derek exchanged hesitant glances. “It’s very generous, but we can’t accept it,” Linda said. “It’s too much.”
“I understand,” Michael replied. “But please, let’s do it. I know what it’s like to lose someone – I lost my wife shortly after Sally was born. If we can help prevent this pain, consider it Santa’s gift to your family.”
When they finally accepted their kindness, tears were accepted in Lind’s eyes. With the money she received, she was able to get a heart surgery she desperately needed.
Over time, Bobby’s family lives have improved, and Sally no longer felt as if she lacked her mother. She found the best friend in Bobby – and Mother in Linda.
And that was the biggest Christmas present of all.
Conclusion
Since then, the friendship of Bobby and Sally was more strongly based on kindness and understanding. What began as a moment of cruelty turned into a lesson in compassion and showed everyone in the class of the real meaning of Christmas – not only gifts, but love, empathy and support.
Bobby’s mother was fully recovered and his family’s life turned for the better, all thanks to the generosity of Sally and her father. Sally also found comfort in Lind’s warmth and filled the emptiness she had long felt.
The Christmas party may have been to the exchange of gifts, but in the end the greatest gifts, given that that day was forgiveness, friendship and spirit of selfless giving.
