When officials of wild animals came across a fragile, hairy creature that rushed to the garbage in Clacer County, they were confused.
At first glance, it barely resembled any known animal. They are pink, with rattled skin and a small, insufficiently developed body did not give any traces of what it was. Was it a strange dog breed? Serious Wildcat? No one could say with certainty.
But when the rescuers looked closer, they realized the shocking truth – it wasn’t an ordinary animal. He was a bear.
Beautiful black bear rescued from the garbage – look at her remarkable recovery.
When you remember the bear, you will probably imagine a strong creature covered with thick fur that rises over most of the other carnivores.
But to meet Eva. When she was first discovered, the rescuers were not even sure he was a bear. Quite hairless, her skin raw and covered with rattles, she lost all the appearances of a majestic animal that really was.
Saving on Christmas Eve
Eva was found in Placer County in California on Christmas Eve in 2017 by the state Ministry of Fish and Wildlife. That night meant the beginning of her incredible journey to healing.
It was taken by an animal fund where specialists quickly decided to suffer from heavy mange. Malnourished and undersized due to a lack of food had a long journey ahead.
Fortunately, Eva was subjected to intensive treatment to eradicate the lice from the skin. The carers also began to give her frequent baths to help her fragile coat start growing back.
A slow healing process
Despite their best efforts, Eva’s recovery remained slow. Until April – four months after its rescue – her progress was still not where the employees hoped.
On Facebook Center shared an update:
“We noticed that there was some fur in certain areas, but overall it remains thin. She still has some crispy spots along her spine, although strangely, most of her new hair also appears.”
“She loves her pool and often sprays around. When her caregivers approach, she jumps out and leaves water everywhere!”
In July, Mange almost completely cleaned up, although she was still fighting skin infections that required ongoing treatment.
Permanent home
Despite its improvement, it turned out that Eva’s release back into the wild. Without full hair, she would try to survive. In addition, California fires, which swept the state at that time, made its release even more risky.
Instead, the center of wild animals decided to give Eve a permanent home in captivity and to ensure that she would receive the care she needed throughout her life. Plans were given to move to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas, a sanctuary dedicated to rescued animals.
