A Kentucky mother, Amanda Foster, is finding solace and hope in what she perceives as a divine sign captured during a recent ultrasound.
At 33 years old and eight months pregnant with a baby boy, Amanda was astounded when her 32-week scan appeared to show a large hand gently resting on her unborn child’s head. For Amanda, who has prayed throughout her pregnancy for God’s protection, especially after an early diagnosis of a heart defect, the image felt like more than a coincidence—it was, in her eyes, the reassuring “hand of God.”
During her 32-week ultrasound, Amanda brought her youngest daughter, Bailey, along. Bailey noticed the unusual image on the screen and asked, “Whose hand is that?” The image quickly spread online, with many calling it “amazing” and “a miracle.”While some speculated it was a distorted image of the baby’s own hand, Amanda and her husband, Kyle, believe otherwise. They prayed fervently for their son’s health, and when they followed up with a specialist, the heart issue had disappeared. Amanda shared on Facebook, “We prayed and prayed along with several others. When we followed up with a specialist, the issue was gone.”
Amanda’s journey has been marked by both heartbreak and healing. At 17, she lost her first son to Potter’s syndrome, a condition where the kidneys fail to develop properly. The grief nearly shattered her faith. She recalled, “I thought, ‘If God is going to take my son, He may as well take me too.'”But after years of pain, Amanda gave her life to Jesus Christ in September 2021. From that moment, everything began to improve, and by November, she was pregnant again. In March 2022, she found out it was a healthy baby boy. That child is now nearly three years old.
Now pregnant with another son, Amanda has faced challenges, but her faith remains strong. The ultrasound image of the “hand of God” has become a powerful symbol of divine protection and answered prayers. As Amanda nears the birth of her son, she continues to place her trust in the same faith that carried her through the darkest moments of her life, believing that God’s hand is not only on her child but on her entire journey.
