Mia had insisted I meet her boyfriend’s friend, Eric. I agreed mostly to stop her from nagging, but cautiously hoped the night would be fine.
Eric seemed capable of normal conversation and actually texted like a regular human. He invited me to a quiet Italian restaurant, and the evening began beautifully.
Eric arrived with roses, pulled out my chair, and even handed me a small engraved keychain with my initial. Dinner flowed easily, conversation was effortless, and the night felt perfectly natural. Instead of a sweet follow-up text, I received an email titled “Invoice for Previous Evening.” Thinking it was a joke, I opened it — only to find a detailed bill listing the cost of dinner, the roses, and the engraved keychain. Worse, it included instructions for “repayment” through planned acts of intimacy and a warning that he might tell Chris, Mia’s boyfriend, if I didn’t comply.
The email was creepy, manipulative, and completely inappropriate. I immediately showed it to Mia, who, along with Chris, created a fake invoice in return. After seeing Eric’s reaction, we cut him off entirely. I blocked him and moved on, grateful to have recognized his true colors before things escalated further.
