Burnet said of his health: “He’s going to be 99 and he’s on one prescription drug for his thyroid.”
“And anyone who visits him or works in the health care industry comments, “Well, we’d like a list of his medications.” You know, let me show you the bottle, I say.
Burnet continues by stating that Barker is still in “very good health for his age, and his humor is still in good order” despite being 99 years old. He lived an extraordinarily happy life.
Burnet said she and Barker will have a “very simple and quiet” celebration at their home with a cake to celebrate the start of another year around the sun.
Burnet went on to attribute Barker’s good health to his nearly 20-year-old decision to become vegan at her urging. It was not meant to replace food; rather, it was meant to make everything better, she said. As he was not feeling well, he was advised: “to take it in addition to his food”.
In 2007, Barker retired from hosting after 50 years, 35 of which were spent on The Price Is Right. As executive producer of the show, he received 4 Emmy Awards and 14 Daytime Emmy Awards.
According to Burnet, Barker still thinks fondly of his time as host. In fact, he thinks that’s what made him so good at it.
“He never got tired of it. So maybe he was always willing to do it and he enjoyed it, and that’s why it was so successful.
As we say goodbye to Bob Barker, we remember a man who entertained, educated, and inspired us. His passion, dedication, and kindness will be missed, but his legacy will live on as a testament to the power of a life well lived.
