Shannen Doherty, the beloved actress who has been open about her battle with cancer, recently shared some incredibly sad news.
Actress Shannen Doherty has been open about her cancer diagnosis and treatment, but now she’s sharing some really disturbing information. Sharing the news on Instagram, she said: “January 5th my CT scan showed Mets in my brain.”
Her brain cancer is now being treated with radiation therapy. She had her first radiation treatment on January 12. She said: “Obviously I’m scared. “My life has been quite busy because I’m very claustrophobic,” she said.
In the letter, Doherty said she was grateful for her doctors despite going through a stressful time, writing, “I am lucky to have fantastic doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and amazing technologists at Cedar Sinai.”
But this is how cancer can appear: with that anxiety, that volatility, and that time. Along with the message, she shared a video of herself taking in the radiation, making no effort to mask her fear at this point.
Doherty was initially diagnosed with cancer back in 2015. Her diagnosis was breast cancer with metastatic spread. Doherty had radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and one mastectomy before achieving remission in 2017.
In 2017, Doherty and Chelsea Handler spoke about their battle with breast cancer. To hear what she had to say, watch the video below.

Doherty’s illness returned in 2019, but she didn’t tell anyone. In 2020, Doherty revealed to the public that her breast cancer had reached stage 4. The discovery that Doherty’s cancer had spread to her brain dramatically worsened her condition and this time she is left without her husband or family.
Three months after learning she had brain cancer and starting treatment, Doherty revealed in April 2023 that she was divorcing Kurt Iswarienko, the man she had been married to for 11 years. Apparently he was “intimately involved” in his PR.
After learning of her cancer diagnosis, several of her famous friends posted comments on her Instagram post. Kevin Smith commented, “I’m rooting for you, my irreplaceable friend.” You’ve always been such a brave warrior, so it only seems logical that you get scared sometimes. But once those moments are over, let the unshakable spirit of Doherty reign again.
“That’s a lot,” wrote Selma Blair. “Once again, there’s a lot going on here. And I pray that all the wisdom of a wise peace comes to you in your darkest moments. That you know you’re in good hands. Love is everything.”
As fans and supporters, our hearts go out to Shannen Doherty during this incredibly challenging time. Her strength and resilience continue to inspire and we join the chorus of voices sending love and well wishes as she navigates this difficult journey.
