It’s finally here – the moment we’ve all been waiting for. On Monday, May 6, the 2024 Met Gala in New York City saw a slew of celebs that fans hold in high esteem.
Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and more celebs wowed us with their amazing style, flawlessly embodying the concept of the event and leaving behind a trail of wild fashion on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The theme of this year’s Costume Institute exhibit, which runs concurrently with the party, is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” as previously announced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Vogue reports that The Met’s collection of “rarely seen” pieces will be “displayed in a whole new way”, which is where the word comes from. According to Max Hollein, CEO and director of The Met’s French division Marina Kellen: “This innovative show pushes the boundaries of our imagination and invites us to experience the many aspects of the work, learn more about its history, and ultimately gain a deeper appreciation of its beauty.”
Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Elsa Schiaparelli, and other designers will have pieces from more than a century ago on display.
In April, Vogue provided further background on the theme, stating that the show would function as a “garden of time” and that the term would also serve as an evening dress code.
