Richard Warner Carlson, who was 84 years old, passed away on March 24, 2025, at his residence in Boca Grande, Florida.

After enduring six weeks of sickness, he adamantly rejected any form of pain relief and bid farewell to this world with grace, accompanied by his cherished family and loyal canine companions. 

Dick was born on February 10, 1941, in Massachusetts to a young Swedish-speaking mother. He spent his early years in an orphanage in Boston. He traversed a number of foster residences prior to being taken in by his adoptive family. At the age of 17, after being expelled from school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. 

Tucker referred to his father as an ‘independent thinker and an avid reader, who would immerse himself in books even when stuck in traffic.’. 

He left behind a massive personal library, filled with dog-eared books that were covered in notes and comments. His extensive reading and diverse life experiences shaped his belief in the existence of god. He had an unruly nature tempered by strong morality.

Throughout his career, Dick had the opportunity to work in various countries and had the privilege of meeting several influential world leaders. 

Tucker mentioned, ‘he had a nonjudgmental attitude and was incredibly hard to surprise, always expressing affectionate amusement towards people.’. 

Dick Carlson was a single father who raised his sons on his own after his wife left for Europe and never came back, according to Tucker.
