A young boy’s unexpected act of kindness on his way to school captured the attention of a police officer, who felt compelled to share the heartwarming gesture with the public in an effort to find the boy and express gratitude. Louisville Metro Police Department officer Jan Dykes was out on patrol when a boy stopped her and asked her a question.
“He stopped me and was like, ‘Hey, before you leave, would you mind if I prayed with you for your day and my day going to school?” Dykes expressed. On his way to school, the boy was near his bus stop when he stopped the officer and made the special request.
“It was great,” According to the ABC local news station WTVM, she stated.
He expressed, ‘I would like to offer a prayer for the safety of this officer. I am glad that I made a new friend today, and I sincerely hope that her day is filled with joy and positivity. My wish for her is to have a wonderful day at school, where she can encounter new people and positively impact their lives.’ It was truly inspiring to see this child exude such enthusiasm and kindness.
Dykes Mentioned The child’s compassion and open-mindedness left her in a state of astonishment. Despite her efforts to locate him at the bus stop at the end of the school day, she was unable to find him.
It brought me a great deal of joy to me.
Despite being unaware of the boy’s identity or whereabouts, she wishes to convey the depth of gratitude she feels for his thoughtful act.
“It brought a lot of joy to me for him to want to do that for me,” Dykes said.
Oftentimes individuals wonder, ‘How can I lend a hand to those in need?’ Therefore, it was heartening to witness his eagerness to assist me. His selfless act filled me with happiness and observing a young and impressionable child radiating such positivity and aspiring to spread light was truly uplifting.
My wish is for these two individuals to cross paths once more so Officer Dykes can tell this little boy how amazing he is.
