Isabel Coles of Southern Pines in North Carolina could never have imagined that the joy of her honeymoon would be overshadowed by an unimaginable tragedy a few days later.
What began as a perfect, sun -soaked trip to the music festival on the beach in New Jersey with his new husband Christopher turned into a nightmare. Just a day after she described as a blissful celebration, Isabel was struggling with a tormenting reality that her husband had taken her own life.
What seemed to be the beginning of a beautiful life together suddenly spiraling into a devastating loss. Now Isabel is left to question everything – could it be hints that were missing? What could lead to a full promise and ambition to take such a drastic step?
The couple tied the node in September of the previous year, year and a half after meeting with the application for dating and starting their relationship. After returning from his honeymoon, Christopher, who served in the army, was busy by updating the list of guests for their upcoming wedding in May.
In the morning, however, Christopher left the house and headed for the forest. Despite Isabel’s attempts to persuade him to stay, he was determined to go. Shortly thereafter, she realized that he had taken a weapon with him.
Isabel desperate for help contacted her parents who left Georgia to help him look. Tragically his body discovered the following morning, 18 September, his father.
Isabel, amazed at grief, tried to understand why it happened. She was thinking about how Christopher seemed so controlled and motivated, leaving her stunned by his sudden decision.
“I was shocked, devastated. He was amazing during our honeymoon; we had a great time,” Isabel recalled. “Christopher was always so hard on himself, he was constantly pushing. There were no grades. I was really surprised.”
After its completion, Isabel received countless news from the other reports that they admired the happiness she had shared, which she and Christopher shared, many say that they wanted them to have the same kind of relationship.
Months later, Isabel received flowers from Christopher after his death, sent in advance to his first Valentine’s Day, because he knew he would be deployed at that time. While she was initially frightened, she later understood a thoughtful gesture.
Unfortunately, after the public sharing of his story, Isabel faced criticism of some online who accused her of responsibility for her husband’s decision.
“There are people who say I had something to do with it, but I know it’s not true.
We were very happy. No one can take it away,” Isabel said. “I have things I blame for, but I don’t think our happiness was a lie. Apparently he fought with demons that no one knew about. I’m doing well; some of them are gone forever.”
Isabel also expressed the belief that Christopher had not acted against her, but perhaps he thought others would have been better without him.
“For whatever reason, he probably thought people would be better without him,” she said.
After the tragic death of her husband, Isabel Coles is still struggling with the immense loss of a man who once thought she was full of life and promise. Christopher’s sorrow has so unexpectedly left a deep emptiness, yet Isabel is decisive that he remembers their happiness together.
Although it faces unfounded criticism and self -blame, it is determined to honor its memory and throw the light into the silent struggles that many will last. Isabel’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the invisible battle on the face and the importance of supporting close support at their moments of need.
