I shouted “No!” On their own wedding after my groom’s mother’s mother almost succeeded
It is said that weddings should be joyful opportunities, but what if someone is determined to sabotage?
When I looked back, I was supposed to know that something was gone. The persistent look, the way Ryan’s mother stayed a little too tight, hesitant stops in her conversations – as if she was holding a terrible secret.
But I ignored it, blinded by love and excitement for the future. I never imagined it, just a few minutes before walking aisle, delivered the most intestines of the undulating betrayal of all.
Ryan and I had a beautiful love story – the one who started with a random meeting and blossomed into the years of happiness. When we stood on the brink of marriage, everything looked perfect. But just a few minutes before I was supposed to go through the aisle, Ryan’s mother broke my world to a shocking revelation. She showed me a video of Ryan with another woman and at that moment my heart broke. The truth behind the video, however, turned out to be even more sinister than I could imagine.
A random meeting that changed everything
Ryan and I first met two years ago in the most anticipated circumstances. I took part in the local theater production to support my girlfriend Mila, who debuted in the director. As I stood outside, he held a bouquet of flowers for her, Ryan accidentally walked into me and crushed them.
“I’m very sorry,” he said, raising the bouquet quickly.
“I hate crowds,” I murmured, a little angry.
He laughed and showed us to step away from the busy east.
“I’m not even a fan,” he admitted. “I’m Ryane.”
I smiled. “Hanna.”
Three months later, Ryan designed through the Guinness and crispy potato skin in a cozy pub. I said yes without hesitation.
Perfect relationship – or so I thought
Everything about our relationship felt good. My family loved Ryan and his family welcomed me with open arms. His mother, Audrey, even created a narrow bond with me and invited me to a coffee and manicure date. I thought she really took care of me.
When we planned our intimate wedding, I remained a calm, enthusiastic life we were about to start together. But on the day of the ceremony everything disintegrated.
The shocking bomb of the mother
Just as I was preparing, Audrey pulled me aside. Something about her expression caused my stomach to turn with restlessness.
“Hanna,” she started hesitantly, “you have to see something.”
She pulled out the phone and handed it to me. When I watched the video, my hands were trembling – a grain clip of a man, allegedly Ryan, in a hotel room with another woman. My breath grabbed my throat.
“Are you sure that is him?” I whispered, my mind was spinning.
Audrey nodded seriously. “Look at the jacket on the bed. Isn’t that the one you bought it?”
I played a video. My heart dropped when I met a well -known hotel room and a jacket I gave to Ryan.
“I can’t believe it,” I murmured.
Audrey put a calming hand on his shoulder. “You deserve better, Hanno. You have to think carefully before you go through it.”
Tears in my eyes. I felt sick, betrayed. But instead of escaping, I decided – I confronted Ryan on the altar.
Wedding
When I was burning in me, I walked through the aisle and grabbed my father’s arm. Ryan smiled at me and didn’t know what was coming. He took my hand and gave him a calming compression.
The priest began talking about love and determination, but I barely heard him. Then came a moment for our promises.
“No,” I whispered, barely audible.
The priest frowned. “Talk, Hanno.”
“No!” I said louder, my voice came to the Church.
There was a stunned silence on the guests. Ryan’s face twisted.
“Hanna? What do you say?” He asked, and his voice was injured.
I pointed to Audrey. “Ask your mother. She has something to tell you.”
All eyes turned to Audrey as she slowly pulled out the phone and lifted it.
Ryan hit back. “What is that?”
Audrey was silent.
Ryan’s face twisted shock and distrust. “It’s not me, Hanna! You know it’s not me!”
But I couldn’t even look at him. I turned and came out of the church, my parents were closely behind.
The truth no one has seen to come
Ryan repeatedly called me that night, but I ignored him. Two days later he appeared in my parents’ house, held flowers and pulled out.
“Do you think it will fix it all?” I mocked.
“I have to talk,” he said firmly.
I released him against my better judgment.
What he told me broke me again.
“I confronted my mother,” he said. “She sat in her kitchen and ate toast, as if she hadn’t just destroy our wedding.”
I folded my hands. “Do you think she destroyed it?”
Ryan exhaled sharply. “Hanno, my mother showed a video.”
I blinked, without a word.
“People in the video? They’re her students,” he explained. “She paid them for everything because she didn’t want us to get married.”
My stomach dropped.
Audrey was a high school teacher, but also taught university students of the first year. And apparently, when our wedding became real, she panicked. She hired two students, promised them money and introduced the whole scene.
“She even modified fake sounds,” Ryan said with a bitter laugh. “And the jacket? She put it in the frame deliberately.”
I was impressed.
All the time I believed he loved me as a daughter. Instead, she organized a complicated scheme to make me leave her son.
Ryan reached out. “Hanna, I love you. I never betray you.”
I wiped a tear from my face. “I know.”
Moving forward – but with deep scars
Ryan and I forgave that night. After all, I humiliated him in front of our family and friends. But the real blow was not between us – it was the one who left Audrey.
We are still together, but I don’t know what the future has. Betrayal runs deep. Ryan forgiveness was easy. Forgiveness Audrey? It will take time – if it ever happens.
What would you do in my situation?
Conclusion
Betrayal is never done, especially when it comes from someone you have trusted. Audrey’s actions were cruel, manipulative and deeply selfish – she broke what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives, all because she thought they knew it better.
Ryan and I are still together, but everything has changed. The basis of our relationship remains intact, but the shadow of what happened. Trust is not just about the person you love – these are people who also surround you. And now there is a glowing blow where there was a link between Audrey and me once.
I don’t know if I ever forgive her, at least not early. Maybe with time I will find in my heart to give up indignation, but right now is all I can do, focus on moving forward – with Ryan at my side. Whether it means a second chance for a wedding or simply taking things at a time at a time, it will only show time.
Can I really welcome Audrey into my life again? I don’t have this answer yet. But one thing is for sure – I will never let anyone else have such a kind of power over me.
