Ice-T permits Mariska Hargitay to refer to him by a more fashionable nickname as they have been friends for 25 years.

Ice-T had to work his way up through the ranks to become one of the most popular rappers of the 1980s and 1990s. He started out as an underground rapper in the early 1980s and persevered in getting a recording deal with Sire Records in 1987, the same year he released his debut studio album, “Rhyme Pays.”

After that, Ice-T started his own record company the next year, which he named Rhyme $yndicate Records after his own hip-hop group. Later, for his contribution to the song “Back on the Block,” he received his first Grammy Award in the category of Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

He was nominated for the Gramophone Award for Best Metal Performance two more times before he eventually took home the prize in 2021 for his work on the song “Bum-Rush.”

In the middle of the 1980s, Ice-T, who was already successful as a musician, also tried his hand at acting. His debut appearance was in the 1984 movie “Breakin’,” which was followed by the sequel “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.” In the decade that followed, Ice-T starred alongside Denzel Washington and John Lithgow in the American action movie “Ricochet”. In 1991, the movie was released. He even made his first appearance in a major role in the 1994 movie “Surviving the Game.”

A well-known actor, Ice-T gained prominence for his performance on the television program “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” in which he co-starred with Mariska Hargitay. For his role as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola in the show, Ice-T is most recognized. According to Entertainment Tonight, he has been an actor on the show since it debuted in the second season, making him the longest-tenured performer in the history of television. More than 450 episodes of the program have included his work.

In February 2023, Ice-T achieved a huge new milestone in his career when he was formally presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was joined for the special event by Hargitay, who has been his co-star for the past 20 years.

When Hargitay revealed the exclusive appellation that she and no one else was allowed to use to refer to the rapper and actor, the honorary speech she gave to Ice-T became even more remarkable.

If you’d want to learn more about Ice-T’s original moniker and his close relationship with Hargitay, keep reading.

Hargitay’s parents are well-known, thus she has been in the spotlight since she was a young child. Given that Mariska Mansfield Hargitay is the daughter of renowned bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay and the famed Jayne Mansfield, it is not unexpected that she entered the entertainment sector.

Mariska Hargitay appeared in a number of films and television programs prior to being cast as Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” She made her debut in the 1984 music video for “She Loves My Car,” a song by Ronnie Milsap, in which she had a supporting part. Following that, the actress made a cameo appearance in the horror film “Ghoulies.”

For her role in the television drama “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” which she has played since 1999, Hargitay has won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. She received the appropriate accolades for her work on the program.

Hargitay received a star panel on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. Her star was given away as the 2,511th one at the time. Because of the prestige and renown that come with receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it is a monumental occasion when an artist is thus honored.

The ceremony’s keynote speaker, Dick Wolf, the creator of “Law & Order,” was present and mentioned her in his remarks.

“I adore you; you did an excellent job. At the time, he told Hargitay that she was a television icon and that he thought she represented femininity to millions of women throughout the world as well as in our country. He said, “You are one of the icons of television.”

When Hargitay attended her co-star Ice-T’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony ten years later, she made a sly revelation about a special moniker she and no one else could use to refer to the celebrated actor.

Hargitay was just one of several attendees who paid respect to Ice-T at the occasion. She complimented them both for their fantastic friendship while making her statements.

“You are the original when it comes to friendship, which is why I hold you in such high esteem. You are my genuine, unwavering, trustworthy friend, and I can’t express how much it means to me, Hargitay told her listeners. I’m going to describe it despite its simple, profound, and amazing, and even though I know you already understand how full the word “friend” is when I say it to you. As straightforward, thought-provoking, and beautiful as that is. Throughout my life, you have been the source of so much joy for me. You embody constancy to the letter. Speaking the truth, you. You don’t even try to sugarcoat it.

Hargitay jokingly admitted during the speech that one of the reasons she adored Ice-T so much was that he allowed her to call him nicknames that no one else was allowed to use. This, according to her, was the main factor in her deep love for him.

“He doesn’t mind if I call him Icey! I consider you to be a close friend. Hargitay addressed Ice-T, saying, “So, my darling, sweet, wise, unique, ferocious, beautiful, precious, Ice-T, welcome to this holy place; my mom and I are thrilled to have you here.” The words “Ice-T, you are everything to me: beautiful, precious, fierce, gorgeous, wise, and unique.”

Rapper Ice-T professed his devotion to his close friend and co-actor Ice-T when asked by Entertainment Tonight what he thought of Hargitay’s revelation. Ice-T also happens to be an actor.

She criticized my decision-making when I advised her to exercise caution with it. Mariska is really lovely. Mariska has grown to be a close friend. How many of your pals over the past 25 years have you maintained contact with, to repeat what I just said? Do you understand? We are aware that we have a goal to do and that we have a program that has been running longer than any other show, so it is only natural that we get close, said Ice-T.
