Through her unwavering resolve and decisive actions, she navigates through the turmoil, ultimately finding solace in the embrace of her son and the courage to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
The soft music of Billie Holiday filled the room and her seductive voice surrounded the people lounging on the white sofa. He was thirty years old and his partner was Jezebel. They shared intimate moments together in the darkened living room.
“That’s so naughty of us!” She whispered something. “What if your wife comes home early?”
“It’s been at least a year since my wife came home early!” “We’ve got all morning,” Herman remarked.
“All morning!” Jezebel spoke again. “Okay Mr. Loverman, let’s make the most of it. Please give me a meaningful kiss.
Herman replied, “That’s not all I’m going to do,” tossing the sweatshirt aside. Simply wait.
The door opened and stopped them, frozen for a moment. Since Herman’s wife was not expected back for hours, they were worried.
“Who is it?” She whispered something.
Herman pleaded, “She can’t be my wife.” “She told me she had to work late. Fast
The front door slammed, signaling the start of the music.
A youthful voice broke the silence. “Who’s Herman?” Are you there?” Herman’s son Jake entered with a suitcase on his shoulder.
“What are you doing at home, Jake?” Herman asked, full of anger.
Jake replied, “They sent us home early because of the scare.” “They thought there was a shooter in the school. “Man, who is this woman?” Jake asked looking at Jezebel.
According to Herman, Jezebel was not there. “Jake, you have to see things.
“But I see a woman there,” Jake remarked.
Herman made up Jake’s surprise at the school scare.
“Focus on ten and close your eyes. If you can’t see the ghost, it can’t see you. You can see it disappear if you do this action.
Jezebel disappeared into the bedroom while Jake followed the instructions and counted. When he opened his eyes, the woman was gone.
“Did I make her disappear?” Jake shouted.
“The ghost is gone. Herman said, “You are a brave young man.”
Herman gave Jake plenty of TV time in exchange for his promise to keep what happened a secret.
Jezebel returned to the room after Jake left and told Herman that his actions were wrong. “What did you do?” “Did you tell your son lies?”
Herman said, “Stepson,” to make things right. “What did you think?” Let him know we’re around. Accept the partnership we have? “I’ll do anything to stay together.”
Jezebel took a deep breath. “Okay, cool,” she said.
As Herman said, “That was close.” “We’ll get back to what we were doing another time!”
“Yes,” she replied and said goodbye to him. She said coquettishly, “I’ll see you later, Loverman.”
Herman’s wife Grace returned home after dark.
There was tension around the dining table as they sat down to eat. Jake took the opportunity to share his special day with others.
“Mom,” he replied, “we left school early today because they thought there was someone inside with a gun.”
“What… what happened?” Grace gasped loudly.
“The caution was unwarranted. Is everything alright, Jake? Herman took over.”
Jake assured everyone, “I’m fine.” “But when I got home, I saw a ghost.
“Spirit?” Worried, Grace asked.
Herman said, “It’s just his imagination,” trying to hide his fear. “Post-traumatic stress from a school scare.”
Grace ignored Herman and focused on Jake. “What did the ghost look like?”
“She was a lady with big, curly hair,” Jake noted.
“She?” Grace looked at Herman and repeated what she said.
Herman laughed nervously. “It must scare him. He said to Jake, ‘I want you to watch cartoons.’
After Jake left, Herman tried to calm Grace down. The stress persisted.
“I’ll call the school and get Jake to see a psychologist,” Grace told me. “Now that you’re not working, you can take him on a date.
“I’m trying to find a job!” Herman was about to scream.
“I know,” you say. Maybe spend less time at that Moe’s Diner you frequent and more helping Jake out,” Grace remarked stiffly.
Herman said he would support her and her son but did not elaborate.
Grace decided to talk to Jake after dinner. “Talk to the school counselor. “Honey, it might help you figure out what’s going on, okay?”
After saying, “Okay, Mom,” Jake wished Herman and Grace a happy evening.
Herman was devastated when he found out that his secret relationship with Jezebel was becoming public. Romance turned out to be more difficult for him than he had anticipated.
Herman stated that they didn’t need to fight again after their fight, but Grace was adamant and won. “I’ll take Jake to the psychologist myself and schedule him an appointment.
In Dr. Warren’s office, Jake’s concern was evident, which is good for the kids. His small fists gripped the chair as he sat down.
Dr. Warren gave him a very warm welcome. “Let’s talk about what happened Jake.
Jake remembered the terrifying event that had brought him here and Herman’s ghost trick and didn’t know what to do.In the living room, Grace and Herman exchanged glances. “The best course of action is to take him to the doctor. My boy’s safety is at risk.”
“Herman said that if I close my eyes, the ghost will disappear.
Grace caught the doctor’s attention. “Wow, ghosts?” “What did Herman teach you?”
Herman was Grace’s second husband, she claimed. Jake said, “Herman told me that if I close my eyes, the ghost can’t see me, so it disappears.”
Dr. Warren spoke softly to Jake. “You can’t close your eyes and wish for negative things. Talk to someone you trust.”
Jake agreed, adding that he was worried the ghost would divide his family. “A woman caught my eye, I’m afraid of that woman because she might force Herman to go.
Grace caught the doctor’s attention. “I’m going to suggest that Jake come more often so he can better understand how I feel. “Jake, could you please excuse us?” he asked the young man. Your mother is about to leave. I’d like to schedule a time for you to see her again.”
With an “okay” Jake left the room.
“I divorced Jake’s dad because he cheated on me. “She was having an affair,” Grace informed Dr. Warren.
“Yes,” the man replied. “I think what’s going on with Jake is a classic case of Kleinian projective identification,” he told me.
“Is it true?” “What should we do?” Grace asked doubting her son.
“You’re fine,” Dr. Warren assured her. This concept comes from Melanie Klein’s child psychology research. A youth who engages in projective identification projects his emotions onto other people or environments. They often act this way to evoke the same emotions in the other person, which could lead to wrong actions like Jake’s. We will handle this.
Grace spoke with concern, “I only want the best for Jake.” “If you think you can help him, we’ll do whatever it takes.
“I would love to work with Jake,” continued Dr. Warren. “Maybe he needs therapy and medication.
“I’m here to help you both.
Grace informed Herman of the discovery of Dr. Warren during dinner. “What did he call it?” It was Herman.
“Something about projecting fear into the outside world,” Grace said.
Herman then said, “Is this a real problem?”
“Yes, Dr. Warren says so. Grace replied, “Jake might need medication.”
Herman lowered his head and concentrated on his food. “Is anything wrong?” Grace asked him.
His response, “Uh, no, no, nothing wrong,” was nonsensical. “Just thinking.
“I’m taking the afternoon off tomorrow and going to lunch with Jake.” I believe that the time spent with him would be pleasant. Maybe he’ll tell you what’s on his mind.
Herman replied, “Okay,” he smiled anxiously.
Grace and Jake discussed the Moe’s Diner menu. Jake suddenly closed his eyes and claimed to have seen a ghost in the living room.
“What is a ghost?” “Honey, are you sure?” Frightened and anxious, Grace asked.
Jake pointed to the curly-haired waitress Jezebel. Grace approached her and asked about any unusual experiences she had had at the restaurant. However, Jezebel said that nothing unusual had happened.
“It’s just that kids pick things up sometimes, you know?” Grace continued. strange feelings or unexplained events. If I had known that there was something strange about this place, I would have felt better. For the benefit of my son.”
Jezebel assured Grace that Jake had a wild imagination and she had nothing to worry about. After saying “thank you” Grace returned to the table.
However, the woman did not agree with Jezebel. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she was the truth as the pieces of the puzzle fit together.
Grace was silent as Jezebel dropped her food. Jake closed his eyes and started counting again.
“Don’t worry, it’s gone,” Grace informed Jake. Jake looked down at his ice cream and opened his eyes.
Grace had an idea. “Jake, should we call Herman and ask him to join us for lunch?”
Jake nodded nonchalantly.
Grace smiled and looked pleased. “But my phone isn’t working. I’ll ask the server if I can use hers.
“My phone is almost dead. Could I use yours to make a quick call to my office?” Grace approached Jezebel and said.
Jezebel hung up the phone reluctantly. “No problem.” She was the one who said, “Go for it.”
When Grace dialed Herman’s number, Jezábel’s caller ID showed “Loverman.” This was the biggest shock of Grace’s life. Terrified, Grace suddenly hung up and returned to the table. But the truth was now known to all.
With a meek smile, she ordered Jake to quickly finish his meal.
After making an appointment for Jake, Grace returned home. She sat down on the sofa, picked up the phone, and called Dr. Warren.
“Hello, Grace. I need your guidance and help.”
After explaining what happened, Grace announced that she would take Herman’s things. Dr. Warren supported her decision.
The movers arrived shortly after and got to work packing Herman’s belongings.
And when Herman arrived, he was amazed. “What’s wrong Grace?” Confused, he asked, “Why are these men taking our things?”
Grace repeated the prank Herman once played on their son with a sardonic smirk on her face.
“Herman, what about you men?” There are no men in the area. Ghosts must be around. For the record, that’s your stuff, not ours.
Herman’s expression turned white. Now it was their turn.
With a tremor in his voice he replied, “Grace, you have to trust me.” This whole thing shouldn’t have happened. I-“
Grace’s voice was firm and commanding as she told him to stop. “Herman, there is nothing to apologize for. Lying and cheating are no longer acceptable. Do you realize what you have become to me? How? An epiphany!”
Herman flushed with anxiety, but Grace was steadfast. She informed him that they would no longer be living together and that all of his personal belongings were being moved into storage.
“I also spoke with Dr. Warren and together we filed a criminal complaint for emotional abuse. The police will arrive shortly.
Shortly after, two police officers appeared, their badges shining. After being advised of his rights, Herman was taken away. Justice has been served.
Grace closed her eyes, looked at the door, and counted to 10 when she was proven right.
She used it as a means to exorcise Herman’s spirit.
Jake was there when she opened her eyes. He rushed to hug her.
Grace hugged him. They were united and faced any challenges with love and courage, even when they didn’t know what lay ahead.
