On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel shared a personal Instagram account.
He told his followers what happened and shared a picture of his seven-year-old smiling in a hospital room.
“Our boy Billy had his third (hopefully of three) open heart surgery last weekend,” the writer said. “We entered this journey with great optimism and almost equal fear,” the father said with relief, “and we came out with a new valve inside a happy and healthy baby.”
In the caption, Kimmel went on to praise Billy’s surgeon, as well as other medical professionals at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where his son was treated and underwent surgery. The late-night talk show host spoke about how meeting other parents at the hospital changed him and other parents on a personal level.
Along with the medical staff, he also thanked his wife, family, and friends for their resilience in the face of hardship.
He continued: “Thank you to our family and friends for being almost ridiculously supportive and to those kind strangers who took the time to pray and send positive energy to our baby.” “I would like to express my gratitude to my wife Molly for being a stronger mother than is realistic.
At the end of his caption, Kimmel sent a heartfelt message to his young son.
The author said, “And Billy, you’re the roughest (and funniest) seven-year-old we know.” “So many parents and children are not lucky enough to go home after five days,” he said.
