The couple released a statement on July 17 acknowledging that they “made the difficult decision to divorce” and that as two people who truly care and love each other, they respectfully ask that their privacy be respected at this time as they navigate this new phase of their lives.
Yesterday, July 19, Manganiello formally filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
In documents describing their split, Manganiello cited “irreconcilable differences” with a separation date of July 2, 2023.
In his case, Manganiello also claimed that he and Vergara, who was previously described as the highest-paid actress in the world, had a prenuptial agreement.

He asked the court to uphold the separation of his and Vergara’s assets, including their jewelry and money, and order each party to pay their own legal fees.
At the 2014 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, Vergara and Manganiello were initially introduced by Vergara Modern Family representative Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Vergara began seeing Manganiello after her divorce from Nick Loeb was made public, although they were engaged at the time.
In 2015, the couple married in Florida in front of hundreds of guests, including Channing Tatum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Reese Witherspoon, who co-starred with Manganiello in Magic Mike XXL.
