John Krasinski’s kids think Emily Blunt married him out of charity, assuming he works in an office.

It’s fascinating to see how children perceive their parents’ fame and the dynamic it creates in the family.

” “Why do you lie to me? He just claimed to know you from the office, didn’t he?
It can be challenging for youngsters to understand what their parents do for a living, especially if the job requires them to be quite famous.

And John Krasinski seems to be finding that out the hard way. During an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he explained that his children have a hard time accepting his work as an actor.
For those who don’t know, John and his wife Emily Blunt have two daughters: Hazel, who is 8 years old, and Violet, who is 6 years old.

Speaking about fatherhood, John mentioned that the girls were impressed with their mother’s performance in 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns, adding that it gave Emily a “head start” in the key Who Parent Is Cooler race.
Maybe Hazel and Violet weren’t that excited about The Office because they knew their mom was a famous actor.

Despite playing Jim Halpert, one of John’s most popular characters in the comedy series, it seems that many difficulties have arisen in his personal life as a result of the success of the series.
He gave an example of how it can be difficult for his children to understand that when fans approach him on the street and say they recognize him from The Office, they are not referring to his actual place of employment.

One day, when I was walking the kids to school, a man came up and said, “John! In the interview, he remembers saying, ‘From the office!'” “Oh my God, so good to see you, he said. I said, “Thanks.” We continued walking.
After overhearing the conversation, his daughter asked if the man was a co-worker, to which John said, “No.” However, his answer was not enough.

Why are you lying to me, she asks. He just claimed to know you from the office, didn’t he? John said.

The actor claimed that as a result of such encounters, his children now believe that he has a typical 9-to-5 job and that their famous mother decided to marry an ordinary man.

“My children believed she married me for charity and said things like, ‘You’re so good to marry an accountant!’ That is very kind of you,” he said jokingly. “They don’t know what I’m doing, I thought.

Funnily enough, the girls’ dissatisfaction with The Office doesn’t seem to be the result of a lack of effort on their part.

John said that he and Emily made the major decision to allow Hazel and Violet to watch a few episodes after they recently expressed vague curiosity about the show’s existence.
“So how’s the Office going?” I overheard as we drove. “Okay, that’s a big question,” I said. We cut it into bite-sized pieces,” he declared.

The girls were surprised when they watched The Pilot, not by their father’s performance, but rather by how much they despised Steve Carrell’s character. Emily naturally suggested they start there.

“My oldest was talking on the screen when they were watching the first episode, as it turns out, because she’s talking on the screen,” he added. As a result, Jenna [Fischer] asked Steve, “What are you doing? You are a terrible person.
As for his youngest, Violet saw a familiar looking man on the screen and decided to investigate.

“My 6-year-old kept asking, ‘Is that you?’ He remembered me saying, ‘Yeah, it is.’
Violet couldn’t help but comment on how different he looked, eventually concluding that the man on TV wasn’t really her father.

She said, “It’s not you,” and I said, “It’s me, I’m just playing a character,” he laughed.
Also, although they like Mary Poppins, the girls generally don’t seem to have much interest in their parents’ celebrity. Emily recently said that Hazel and Violet do not desire to become admirers of their work.

She told E! News last month that they “don’t really want to watch us on screen.” They have taken control of our roles as parents. He doesn’t run after me in the movie, which keeps you humble, so it’s not like that.
Children will keep you grounded if one thing is good for them.

Despite their parents’ fame, Hazel and Violet manage to keep their parents grounded and remind them of the importance of family and normalcy. While John’s daughters may have trouble fully understanding his acting career and distinguishing it from his real personality, they still maintain a real connection with their father outside of the glitz and glamor of Hollywood.
