Judy Sheindlin, best known as the formidable Judge Judy, not only presided over countless court cases on television but also faced a personal battle that deeply disturbed her audience. In 2011, while performing in front of a live audience, Judy suffered a minor stroke, a harrowing incident that would forever mark her life.
The incident happened during one of her live shows, and despite years of grappling with fascinating court battles, nothing could have prepared her for what was about to happen. Judy, who now serves as an executive producer on her show “Judy Justice,” shared her experience in an interview and shed light on the horrifying moment that took place.
In her candid interview, Judy opened up about the incident and revealed that she believes she may have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA), often referred to as a mini-stroke. The seriousness of the situation was revealed when she explained how her loyal viewers sensed something was wrong. In her own words, “People who had been following me for 15 years sensed something was wrong and without asking, which was probably a very good thing because I would have said, ‘Don’t go there,'” they called EMS.
The audience’s quick thinking undoubtedly played a vital role in responding to this medical emergency. Judy went on to describe the alarming symptoms she was experiencing at the time and said she started asking questions “in slow motion”. These symptoms prompted the show’s producers to immediately intervene and call 911.
Despite her initial shock and fear, Judy recounted her journey to recovery and shared that her health quickly improved, much to her relief. She admitted that her doctors expressed concern that she may have suffered a small stroke, technically known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA). This type of stroke usually comes and goes quickly, leaving little or no permanent damage. In Judy’s case, the symptoms seemed to disappear quickly, much to the relief of her and her loved ones.
